1938 – HERBERT WALE, Timber Drawer, 40
Herbert Wale of 14 Worksop Rd, Mastin Moor, was a native of the village and had lived there all his life. He had been working at the Markham Colliery for about ten years, but had been employed by the Staveley Coal and Iron Company all his working life. He left his widow Frances and two daughters Joan and Jean. He was buried at Staveley.
