1938 – Whitley, George

Mr. George Whitley (43) of 115 Pipe Lane, was a former member of Staveley Woodthorpe Church choir when resident at Seymour. Before moving to Pipe Lane early this year he lived for a time in The Populars, Staveley. He had worked for the Staveley Company since leaving school.

Research by Sandra Struggles:

George Whitley was buried at Staveley alongside eleven of his workmates who died with him. He left a widow and a son, Geoffrey.
